Salomon XA Pro 3D XCR Trail Running Shoe - Women's

The Salomon Women's XA Pro 3D XCR Trail Running Shoe gives you a killer combination of agility and stability for fast trail runs, then adds a Gore-Tex XCR membrane for increased weather protection. Salomon paired the 3D Advanced Chassis system (a plastic shank under the insole that controls twisting) with close-to-the-ground construction for stability. The system helps the XA Pro 3D XCR Trail Running Shoe stabilize your feet over uneven terrain, without losing energy from your stride. Built for moving quickly in less than ideal conditions, this Salomon trail runner is constructed using tough durable materials that'll take the beating of muddy runs and springtime slush. With Salomon's Quicklace system, a simple tug on the drawcord produces a snug, custom fit.

Bottom Line: The Salomon Pro 3D XCR Trail Running Shoe—because you don't stop running when the sun disappears.

multitasker

I've tried using these shoes running. On pavement they really lack cushioning, cannot compare with my road runner. On trails however, they are pretty good, comfortable right out of the box. But mostly I used these for speed hiking. The soles are just thick enough to not kill your feet on some rocks, yet you can still feel the trail. But as the shoes age, they fit looser and looser. I usually have to tighten them down quite a bit, several times during a hike. Perhaps it's time to replace them. Also, on my previous pairs the zip lock laces broke. But Salomon seems to have made the current version laces more durable. Overall I love these shoes, I'm on my 5th pair.

Does any one know where I could get replacement laces for the Salomon XA Pro 3D XCR Trail Running Shoe or similar quick-lacing ones? One of my laces has frayed and doesn't hold properly any more.

These are the best!

By:
December 15, 2008

These are the best! First bought them at REI with a discount, then found them a second pair on steepandcheap (wait for it!) for $52. They are amazing trail runners, are very durable and comfortable, and the Gore-Tex rocks! Once you go Salomon -- and get the zip lock laces -- its hard to run anything else for trails! Look damn sexy too.

Great shoe

Absolutely don't miss the laces and having to stop to re-tie! They are heavier than I am used to and they seem longer, found myself tripping over the toe for the first week. Didn't take long to get used to them though.

As good as they say

By:
October 31, 2008

I got these after seeing all the other disc golfers wearing them at tournaments and them not complaining about putting them on the next round. When I first got them I thought they seemed a bit stiff, but once I wore them a few rounds I could see that the stiffness made all the difference especially playing big mountain courses. I got a pair of Keen Tr-something waterproof low tops just before I got these, and the Solomons have been getting way more attention. They're much lighter (at least it feels that way) and the upper is less bulky and more like a sneaker than a boot.

By:

I loved these shoes but definately think you need to order a size larger. With a downhill descent you'll want the extra toe room. I take a 9-1/2 and ordered a 10. There was a problem with the delevery and I did not get these shoes in time to try them out before I hike the Grand Canyon-North to South Rim. It didn't matter, they worked great and did not require any 'break-in' period. I don't like anything around my ankle and that made these a big win for me.

I love these shoes, but if you are going to run long, real long, you may want to go one full size bigger. I bought a half size bigger and in a 50k, around mile 20, my toes were killing me.

Great shoes, but sweaty feet

By:
September 29, 2008

I really like these shoes a lot; they are very comfortable, nice looking and I wear them often. However, my feet get really sweaty and hot no matter what type of sock I wear with them. Otherwise, they are great.

Best summertime backpacking shoes I´ve worn in ages. 30 km with a 6 kg pack over 5 days, (one of them in driving rain) and not a single blister or hot spot... and they´re nice-looking, too! Recommended.

excellent shoes!

By:
August 25, 2008

These are easily the best pair of running shoes I have bought right out of the box. I have a wider foot so it generally takes a while to break in a good pair of shoes- These were good to go after 1 day. They have great support and provide a lot of stability on the trails. I wear an 8.5-9 with thicker socks (smartwool's running socks) and the 8.5. fit perfectly with those. Definitely a good buy

I would go with the 8. I wear an 8.5-9 typically and the 8.5 fit me perfectly with a slightly thicker shock (smartwool's running socks).

Great shoes

By:
August 6, 2008

Liked the quicklace system - no problems with it all. The sizing was a little off - I usually wear a 9 1/2 and bought an 8 1/2. This size is working well now that they are broken in. I am using this shoe as a light hiker and casual shoe. They are comfortable due in large part to the arch support.

worth it spend the money woo hoo!!

By:
July 21, 2008

I own the mens, same pair so don't know if this is worth anything....but, they are pretty sweet shoes- everyone was telling me how fragile the lacing system was, and I have put them through hell and nothing at all wrong with them, took to my feet well and the "orthotic" sole thingy seems to really make running 3-5 miles easier....waterproof for sure , you could swim in these things, to answer backcountry's question, yes they will work on the moon- only prob (waaah wahh) they do get real warm inside really quickly- I weigh 240 (muscle) and maybe that has something to do with it especiually going down hills and the friction and all, but maybe that is also a product of the goretex being so effective, either way worth the moneyQ!!!!!!

Sooo comfortable!

By:
June 17, 2008

These shoes are by far the most comfortable I've owned. They replaced a set of New Balance and really out perform any other shoe I've used. The laces are really easy to use and tuck down nicely (don't stand straight up like quick laces in other brands). Great shoes for every use!

great shoes

By:
June 3, 2008

These shoes have great support and are easy to get on and off. My only complaint is that I got a huge blister from running with them the first time because my socks were too low. As long as your socks are high enough to completely cover your heel, you will not regret purchasing these shoes! I normally wear a 6.5 or 7 shoe size, and the 6.5 fits me perfect.

No tie-laces, No problem.

By:

The no-tie lace system is amazing, and they are really comfortable, except I wouldn't recommend wearing too low of socks. The heal tends to rub on the Gortex model.

Favorite all around shoe!!!

By:
May 1, 2008

These are my favorite all-around shoes. I slip them on when my dog wakes me at 3 am to go potty, they have been awesome for running, hiking, even at the gym. Perfect fit, they even do okay if they get a little wet. And they dry easy when it's more than a little! And they do look awesome (I have the red ones).

April 28, 2008

I have owned three pairs of these shoes.I absolutely love these shoes. I do have one complaint though. . . the material has torn at the flex point on every pair I have owned. Because of this I don't think I will spend the extra money to get the GTX ones next time.

April 3, 2008

I have worn orthopedic inserts for 20yrs. I don't need them in these Salomons!!! Most comfy, all around best trail runners EVER. I don't run in them, I fly in them. I have the grass green ones, hard to find, have gotten so many comments on them (good ones!) and I wear them every single day. Don't hesitate, worth every penny. Oh, and they wash up perfectly too!!

Best trail running shoes I have used!

By:
March 19, 2008

Before I bought the XCR version I had been running with the non-waterproof model for a couple of years. Both shoes are extremely lightweight and responsive to the trail. They do not provide too much support (at least for me they feel almost neutral) so I insert the green Superfeet for added arch support. In earlier XCR models I had some issues with the Gore-Tex lining of the shoe, the seams around the tongue just bothered me. That's gone with the current model. Overall, I am very happy with the XA Pro 3D!

Toasty

By:
January 2, 2008

I've had the XA Pro 3D for about a year and love it. That pair took me from the valley to Half Dome and back in a handful of hours without blisters. So, when it got a little cold and wet, I decided to get the XCR version. First off, it was brand new, so I felt the added stiffness in the sole and the rest of the shoe. The added weight is negligible. I went for a 1/2 hour slog over some snow and was pleased that my feet were dry and toasty. My buddy, on the other hand, had popsicles for feet. On cold days, I also noticed that the Goretex membrane blocks wind. I'll definitely stick with the Salomons. These shoes are comfy, perform very well and fit my wide toe box feet.

By:
September 29, 2007

This is my first pair of Gore-tex shoes and I would highly recommend them. Running in 90 degree heat and 90% percent humidity my feet were comfortable and dry. They do seem to run a little big, I normally wear a 6 and could have gone down to a 5 1/2 in these shoes.

A little squishy, but great on the downhill

By:
July 24, 2007

While initially these felt a little more soft & squishy than I'm used to, the benefit became apparent when running downhill... my knees don't hurt! As for sizing, another review said to go down a size. I found them to be very true to size. I wear between a women's 7 & 7.5 and went for the 7.5. Very happy with the fit. Added benefit is a decent sized toe box. Thank you!

best in class

By:
April 24, 2007

I got these shoes for muddy spring & fall trail running in upstate NY and love them. I'm on my third pair and I hope Salomon never stops making them. Breathability is not a strength, so I don't recommend them for warm weather. Arch support is fair to moderate, but the snug fit & lacing system help to compensate.

March 1, 2007

When I brought the package into the house, I thought they sent an empty box, they're that lightweight! Still feel sturdy and substantial tho, VERY comfy too! The best part is that they really are waterproof. We've had lots of snow this year and they keep my feet dry through slush, snow, muck, puddles and wet foliage. Lots of compliments on the look too...I LOVE them!

Lightweight and Waterproof

By:
December 21, 2006

Be forewarned that the rubber toe is actually quite large. Once I got out on the trail, however, I appreciated the extra protection it provides very much. Water beads up on the shoe beautifully and it's been quite breathable for my feet on long runs. I'm just a few runs in, but so far they've been great. Lightweight!

For my mom...

By:
December 17, 2006

I bought these for my mom a month ago. She has loved them. Here is what she had to say: I have had trouble with my feet for years and so it has been difficult finding shoes that are comfortable and functional at the same time. These hiking boots not only met my requirements, they went beyond. They are extremely lightweight and easy on my feet. I used to have plantar fasciitis and have special inserts for my shoes, but I didn’t have to use them with these Salomons—they were comfortable and supportive without. The 3D XCR shoes hold tight on wet trails, are firm and steady on steep hikes, and they feel healthy on fast walks. I like the looks of these little lipstick boots, and the lacing system—while tricky at first—proved to be surprisingly clever and easy-to-use… even tucks into its own “garage.” I highly recommend this product… I would repeat this order. They were a great value and a huge success for me.

Salomon trail runner

February 1, 2006

I am very happy with these shoes. The terrain in NJ this time of year is ever changing: grassy, muddy, snowy, slick, crunchy, you name it and I found these to be very stable in all conditions. I also got home to completely dry socks. The only problem I had was with the interior contour. There is a lump just below the toes that was causing a bit of toe numbness, especially when on-road, but it abated as I wore them in.
