The Dachshund is the only breed to have a dedicated group within the World Canine Organization. Dachshunds come in three different sizes, with one of three different types of coat: shorthaired, longhaired and wirehaired. The Dachshund is well known for sensitive joints, with very short, bowed legs. The cartilage of long bones ossifies prematurely, causing leg growth to end early.

For adult Dachshund, food may be served right from the bag or moistened with warm water, if desired.
